On August 23, GTIG EASTAR Garment (Myanmar) Co., Ltd. officially opened in Yangon, Myanmar. Mr. Cai Dongsheng - Chairman of EASTAR Company, Mr. Lu Puxiong - Founder of EASTAR Company, President Mr. Zhao Hanli, Executive vice president Mr. He Cui and vice president Mr. Li Xudong attended the opening ceremony. This is the first stop of EASTAR Company setting up overseas factories and the first overseas industrial park of GTIG. The garment production base is located at the land of 148 & 153 in Wartayar Industrial Park, northwest of Yangon province, close to Yangon International Airport and main roads of cargo transportation. The rent land of 120 Chinese Mu in total will be used to build 5 workshops of each 10,000 square meters, 5 dormitories of each 400 square meters and related supporting facilities. The factory currently has about 300 employees, and plans to reach 1,600 by the end of the year.
Investing garment industry base in Myanmar is a positive response made by EASTAR to the "globalization" layout and "going out" development strategy of the Group. This move is made carefully under the background of domestic textile and garment industry in cost rising of raw materials, products of much homogenization, difficulty in recruitment, continuous decline of profits in export and etc., with consideration of lowing costs, breaking trade barriers and need of improving profits, and vision of strengthening cooperation between China and Myanmar. In order to build the Myanmar factory better, EASTAR Company send people many times to visit Myanmar since October of last year for collecting information of Myanmar through various channels, learning basic conditions in economy, trade, taxation and transportation of Myanmar and being familiar with related laws and regulations on land renting and human resources. Through undertaking this move by company management leadership personally, cooperating between business and functional departments, a special team for handling Myanmar affairs was setup. We worked together to think over resolutions and encourage each other to overcome difficulties, and finally completed the construction of Myanmar factory with help and supports by the group and partners of EASTAR.
The implementation of the project can use cheap and abundant labor resources of Myanmar, avoid trade barriers of Europe and the United States, enjoy the local tariff incentive policies, and thus effectively meets the requirements of large customers, gets more orders, reduces trade costs and enhances core competitiveness, which promotes further expansion and finer clothing business of the Company, and sustained, stable and healthy development of the Company. In future, EASTAR Company will continue to taking collective efforts in Myanmar, always adhere to the purpose of GTIG for caring employees, returning shareholders and creating value for society, and make a great success of first move in overseas strategic layout.
